Tofurkey Day

  1. You're doing a great job of getting these comics out in time, Martin!

Meanwhile, I struggle just to update my blog with just a couple words every now and then!

I dunno, for some reason I was expecting a giant battle with this tofurkey abomination that had congealed itself together. I think the main attraction was that it had, via some of the wackiest places in the Koalas house (out of the nose & ears of the statute? An electrical outlet? How'd they--whoa, whoa, easy there Enoch, there I go, trying to use logic where it is expressly not warranted) but that's where I thought it was building towards, this epic confrontation that we didn't get.

It's a bit funny. I was getting all hyped up for this big spectacular animated battle, not unlike the one in you gave us for Cloud Beasties, and then I see Practical Implications and I was like, whaaaa . . .

In a way, that's actually more than okay. As I understand it, you were already rubbing up against your self-imposed deadline for this one, and having to put together a battle would have tipped you over into the realm of tardiness (which every artist working on a serial is terrified of!), so this is my long way of saying Tofurkey Day is just fine as it is, and at 35 panels it is a bit on the long side. (In my case, it is a good thing, because when I like the characters of a story, I tend to want more time with them, like many other people--such as Twilight fans with their favorite characters.)

  2. Heheh thanks yeah, I have been trying to keep things simpler, because as it is, I'm spending well over 20 hours per episode. (Had to pull an all-nighter to get this one out on time.) Don't worry though, that question mark after "End" is there for a reason...!

  4. I really liked this one - since Casey is a vegetarian now & made Tofurkey recently, I can relate!

  5. I'm really enjoying some of these comments left by your loyal readers, Dave.

Are you saying there's a Part II to this tofurkey battle? Again, whaaaaa . . .

  6. I'm incredibly busy this month, so unfortunately Part II will have to wait until I can properly devote time to it. For now, I'll be trying my best to stay cleverly concise.

  7. Magnificent.. and I think the suspensful note that this episode ended on is great, Martin. The point being after all, that Sanja finds out what they were doing!

  8. Exactly. Sanja wising up to the guys' yearly antics due to some inexplicable lunar curse is a bonus payoff. Thanks for picking up on it!
